What we do at our Urology Clinic
Clinic overview
Men’s health is an area of healthcare that is often neglected by doctors and men themselves. Men’s health encompasses many complex issues across the physiological, mental, and emotional spectrum.
It is a well-acknowledged fact that men’s problems in Malaysia are due to leading less healthy lifestyles compared to women (e.g.: eating less healthily, drinking and smoking), as well as putting off routine check-ups and medical care. These risk factors can accumulate throughout life and add up exponentially, leading to a lot of health problems later in life.
In Meditest Hospital, urology specializes in men’s health and also covers organs such as kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra, and the adrenal glands for both genders.
Men’s Health and Urology Centre is anchored with urologists and surgeons who have more than 20 years of experience, a solid track record, and a high success rate in treating patients using modern facilities and equipment.

How to Improve Men’s Health and Prevent Urologic Disease?
Men’s health is important. Research has shown that men are less likely than women to seek help for health problems. This includes physical and emotional health issues. Therefore, regular check-ups and screening tests can spot disease early, when it is easiest to treat.
Urologic disease describes a wide variety of conditions, all related to the filtering and carrying of urine out of the body. This disease can affect men, women, and children of all ages. Urologic disease affects very specific parts of the body between males and females. In the female, it involves the urinary tract. However, in males, it affects the urinary tract or the reproductive organs.
The risk factors that affect men’s health and cause urologic disease include:
- High cholesterol
- Chronic inflammation
- Overweight
- Metabolic syndrome
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes
There are major health risks that men face that can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle:
- Do not smoke – Smoking causes erectile dysfunction in men and damages the DNA in sperm. Avoid exposure to second-hand smoke.
- Eat right– Drink more water, eat more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean meat, and high-fiber food. Limit food high in salt and drinks high in caffeine.
- Exercise– Exercise helps to maintain weight, and lower the risks of heart disease and stroke.
- Limit alcohol intake– The risk of various types of cancer, such as liver cancer, appears to increase with the amount of alcohol intake and the length of time you have been drinking regularly. Too much alcohol can also raise blood pressure and uric acid.
- Manage stress– Mental stress affects lifestyle and possibly the immune system.
